The trip to South Dakota

We left at 7:30 a.m. Wenesday morning off to see Mt. Rushmore and other well known sites in S.D. The drive up was fabulous! We all listened to music and for the first few hours I slept.lol I was exhausted! long story.
Before we arrived at the hotel on a local base, we stopped by the Badlands. It was sooooo incredible awsome! God's creation is amazing, amen? AMEN! lol It was beautiful and you could see for miles and miles. It's been so long since I've seen mountains. We took pics so I'll get them on when I can. And on the way out of it when we were driving there was a little whispy cloud right under the sun. The entire cloud was a rainbow. It was soo cool! We checked into the hotel and stopped by a corner grocery store to get sandwhiches for dinner. That night we went to Mt. Rushmore. I had already been there once before and honestly wasn't all that impressed, but for some reason this time it was amazing! We went to the ceremony and saw it lit up. It was great! I loved it, but it was really stinking cold! lol
Thursday was really good. In the morning we went grocery shopping at the commisary. We got honey buns, donuts, and breadfast bars. They were good! =P After driving for quite a long time we showed up at a Mammoth site. It was interesting. There were so many fossils in one spot!
After that we went to a park to take a wild life drive. We heard it was really good and you could see all sorts of animals. However, this wasn't the case when we went... out of the entire 2 hr. drive we saw a squirrel and a prairie dog. Pathetic huh? And it cost twelve dollars to drive around and see mountains! I loved the view though, it was gorgous! Somewhat connected to this we were in search of the 'needle eye rock.' It took at least an hour to find it! And we saw more animals on this trip than we did on the wildlife drive! Buffalo were everywhere... =) When we finally found it we were like " oh well that's neat. Ok lets get back in the car." Litteraly! It was cool but not worth the time. Blimie.
That night we went to a dinner that was held in a barn. It was really neat! It was kind of like a buffet. The food was delicious! And they had entertainment. Four men and one woman played a bunch of folk music and sang. Now that's the kind of country music I like! It was really neat! Lol the only thing with it that was a little odd was that we were the youngest people there! There were one young couple maybe in their 30's and two teenagers aside from my family. The rest were without a doubt 50, 60 or older. I felt like we were in a nursing home.lol But it was a really fun night anyway!
The ride home was good too. Pretty much the entire time we were listening to the Adventures in Odyssey cds. It was totally amazing!
Oh and one of the best parts! Only a few hours from home we saw a whole rainbow! And when I say 'whole' I mean it. We saw both ends of it and even drove underneath it! It was amazing!
We got home at about ten Friday night. It was an exhausting trip but a great one! =)
